Koko being sad about a movie is more heart breaking to me than human orphans who have no limbs and don’t understand the concept of love because their parents are dead. That’s why they’re orphans.

I am fascinated with the animal consciousness and do worry about the day, if it comes, that we realize we’ve been harming things with which our only justification was “they have no idea what’s going on.”
